Day 21

Salt Lake City, UT - Rock Springs, WY
Miles Driven - Approx 187 Miles

The Sinclair across from our hotel has a dinosaur! He's very shiny.
We don't even need gas.

More bookstores.

With special cases.

Crosswalks are very bossy.

What's this? Another bookstore.

 Allez hop!

 Jason's JACKPOT.

Salt Lake City humour.

 And then. Behold.

The George S Eccles Dinosaur Park, in Ogden, UT.

 And it is glorious.

 As is this man.

They evolved with saddles on their backs. True history.

We fed the ducks and one goose. They were not shy.

Lil' head.

Bonus Sinclair dino of the day at the evening fill up. Quite the dino day.

Day 20

Winnemucca, NV - Salt Lake City, UT
Miles driven - Approx 350 Miles

Breakfast like only Winnemucca can do it. The cowboy is smelling the pancakes. Not smoking.

 And then, the road.

 Um, sure!

Wendover Will! His arm doesn't wave anymore.

But he's still great.

Looks like I've been here before?...

 Salt Flats!

Utah is dry and salty. We feel puffy and dry. Yay, vacation!

Day 19

Berkeley, CA - Winnemucca, NV
Miles Driven: Approx 372 miles.

So hard to leave Berkeley.

Maman's Olive tree.

Esten and Edina's Olive tree.
I want an Olive tree. Can those even exist in MN?

We set out on the rest of the road trip. The way back home.

We stopped in Truckee for lunch,

And walked around the little shops. We also bought enough candy and chocolates for an entire school bus. And ate most of it before leaving our parking spot.

"It feels nice to have our marriage legally recognized again." said Jason as we crossed the border.

Of course we stopped in Reno.

Because we can't resist the kitsch.

And we hadn't gone to Circus Circus in Vegas. So.

My man won me a stuffed jalapeƱo.
By catapulting a rubber chicken into a metal pot. On the first try.

He also won me this watermelephant. By landing a ping pong ball into a red dish. Or was it yellow.
I love my man.

Then we settled in Winnemucca for the night.

David's Tattoo

David got a tattoo.
It's so amazing that it needs its own blog post.
We had talked on the phone a few weeks ago about the different ways to commemorate his niece in image. He really wanted to include her name.

It's incredible.
He's getting color added sometime this week.

Uncle David doesn't mess around.

That's my baby's name.

Days 11-18

Berkeley, CA - Home of my favorite people.
Santa Cruz, too.

I love my family. Maman took this.

Last time we had seen Kim and David was when we said goodbye in Olive's NICU room.
It's so good to be together, in the sun.
To go on walks.

 And sits.

 In the California sun.

 Did I mention the sun?

The air in the Bay Area is the softest in the world. I can feel my skin relax.

We spend the week driving and walking,

 Visiting and eating.

We go to a lot of bookstores.

 We loves the bookstores.

Married hand with flight of beer.

Celebratory wedding cupcakes.

 More bookstores.

 And music stores.

 David.

Dinner on Fillmore street.
I'm going to pretend this is pronounced "Dy-No" and call it a dinosaur sighting.

 Another dinosaur sighting in SF.

Done with my chai. In the sun.

 Papa and his licorice root.

Lil'.

 Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz sunset.

We laughed, we cried, we held each other tight.

 And we took photos.

Like we do.
