We're outta there. We left town.

 We left the house behind. (Dinosaur foreshadowing in the background)

Our warm cocoon. The home where we became a family.

 We got some coffee,

Set up the Garmin, and hit the road.

We got some magnets,

 Found an Antique Mall in Story City, IA.

That sign says "Welcome to Missouri" I swear.

 We're staying in Kansas City, MO. In an old Italian village?

No! In a casino!

 The Casino bar is called Crazy Olives. What the hell.

ROADTRIP

You guys.
Jason and I are going on a road trip. Which apparently is two words.

We have a good idea of where we're going, but we're keeping it loose.
We have 3 weeks and 3 days.
No matter what, there will be many dinosaur parks.
We're going to get in a car and drive and drive and drive and drive.
And be together.

Route subject to change.

Very Late Post

It's very late to post this since I just "turned" 38 weeks pregnant, 

but I still wanted to make this part of the blog. 

We're gonna have a baby!!

You can't possibly call yourself "ready for a child" without Sophie.

We only have 2 weeks to go. It could be more (or less!) but no matter what, very soon, we are going to meet our little one. I don't know what to do with myself. Oh I know, I'll just close a show on Sunday, and hopefully not have a baby before then. 

Quilting - ALL DONE!!

What. Is. Happening. 

The quilt is finished!

The binding went on!

The stitching was blind!

And it's beautiful.

And it's everything I wanted it to be. 

After about a year and a half -with breaks- I am done with my quilt.

The entire thing was made by me, with my hands. 

We slept under it last night and it works! It's a quilt!

I. Love. It. 

On to the next one?...

My first very own home. My first lease in Minneapolis. My first independent-woman, budget your life, make it work, buy what you want, put it where you want, warm and cozy haven in the coldest Winters, birds chirping outside in the Spring, perfect location with and without a car, love nest when Jason moved in, super awesome studio in Uptown, Minneapolis.

I mean c'mon. 

So we made sure all the drawers were empty, and we were off!

Back On The Bus

Took the bus downtown for the first time in at least a year. Maybe two? It's been a while.
Back on temping trail. Watch out, world, I'm getting paid to sit in front of a computer- I'm online all. the. time.

Quilting - The Back

Found this orange fabric at S.R. Harris. I was in there for. ever. I like this small pattern. Maman told me that's pretty traditional, to have a small pattern repeating a lot on the back of a quilt. Totally knew that.

Batting. Warm and Natural is what I heard I should get. Looking at the measurements, I am actually making a TWIN-sized quilt. What? But it looks so good on our full bed! I get it, some people want theirs to fall further toward the floor. Mine will be a shorty.

 White and soft. I munna sleep under you!

I got a stencil pattern at Full Line Stencil. The kind that comes with the powder chalk that you iron off.

Ok. Let's talk about this. 

I draw like crap, and I didn't want to follow the pattern of the shapes in front of the quilt, so I went with a stencil because it was a concept I could wrap my head around.  If there is a next quilt, I think I'll draw with a washable pencil, or something like that. The main negative about the chalk stencil is that I am tied to the iron and the ironing board. I want to quilt in bed or in front of the TV, but there is too much shlepping for that to happen often. 

Just chalk.
